The Community Services Office was established in 1976 to provide information,
Concurrently, the Village of Mamaroneck operated these same programs until January 2009, when the Town of Mamaroneck and Village of Mamaroneck elected officials agreed to consolidate these programs under the Town of Mamaroneck Community Services Office. This greatly improved the coordination and administration of an array of services to the residents of the three municipalities.
Special Programs and Services
The Town of Mamaroneck currently receives federal funding from the US Department of Health and Human Services through the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services to administer various nutrition programs and transportation services for senior citizens.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development contracts with the Town of Mamaroneck annually to provide funding to administer 647 Housing Choice Vouchers. The Town of Mamaroneck handles the eligibility determination for eight 1-bedroom and two 2-bedroom Workforce Housing rentals at The Cambium and 13 units at Hommocks Park Apartments which are set aside for Housing Choice Voucher holders.
The Community Service Office also helps coordinate annual holiday gift‐giving projects, in partnership with the American Legion Post 90, local schools, and other community groups for individuals and families in need. Families selected are asked to submit a "wish list" to Community Services and an anonymous list is then shared with the congregants of several religious organizations and employees of the Town of Mamaroneck who participate in the effort by purchasing, wrapping, and donating new clothing, toys, gift cards, and gift baskets for local families and senior citizens to ensure these families enjoy a festive holiday season.
Community Services also loans out walkers and wheelchairs to local residents recovering from a recent illness or injury. Items may be borrowed for up to 90 days. The office does not accept donations of hospital beds, commodes, or scooters,
